Curriculum music

Specialist teaching of National Curriculum music is provided for all year groups from Nursery to Year 6. Teaching focuses on the key aspects of listening, performing, composing and appraising.

Singing skills are developed, particularly through fun warm-up activities to motivate and focus the children at the start of lessons. Other activities such as whole class recorder teaching can be provided within the structure of lessons.

A range of extra-curricular activities can be provided such as choirs, recorder groups, guitar groups and orchestras.

A school visit may also include playing the piano for assemblies and school masses, and leading key stage or whole school hymn practices.

Support is available for the preparation and presentation of school concerts, including performances outside the normal school day.

Support can also be provided for staff development in music.

Minster Music is in a unique position to be able to offer a flexible package, to cater for the specific needs of the school at a very competitive rate.
