About Minster Music
Jonathan Hill was brought up in North Staffordshire, and began his musical education with piano lessons at the age of seven. He attended Newcastle High School (now Newcastle-under-Lyme School) where, as a sixth-former, he was school organist, before reading for the Bachelor of Music Honours degree at the University of Sheffield. During his time at Sheffield he continued his organ studies with Simon Lindley at Leeds Parish Church, obtaining the Associateship diploma of the Royal College of Organists.
On returning to North Staffordshire, Jonathan taught music privately before training as a primary school teacher. At the end of 2010 he left full-time primary teaching in order to establish Minster Music, providing a specialist primary school music service as well as developing a private teaching practice.
Jonathan has worked extensively with local choirs as a singer, accompanist and conductor. Since 2007 he has been Organist and Director of Music at Stoke Minster, with responsibility for the training of the Minster Choir and the St Peter's Singers.
